Terms and conditions

These terms apply when you commission a Place Portrait or buy a print from me. Placing an order means you agree to them.

Place Portraits by Leah is run by [your full name], [sole trader or limited company], based in [your town or county, if you’re happy to share it]. You can reach me at placeportraits.byleah@gmail.com.

• A commission is confirmed once we have agreed the details in writing and your 50% deposit has been received.
• Commissions are currently taking 6 to 8 weeks. Printing and UK postage adds about 1 week. Please don’t assume a particular deadline can be met until we’ve agreed it together.
• Every Place Portrait is drawn from the photos and details you send. It is an artist’s illustration of the place, not a measured or technical drawing.
• By sending me photos, you confirm you are allowed to share them and are happy for me to use them to create your artwork.
• Colours can look slightly different on screen and in print.
• Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer. These terms are governed by the law of [England and Wales].

Payment, cancellations and refunds

Current prices are on the Commissions page and in the print shop. Commission prices are based on one building or place. Requests involving several buildings or additional subjects are quoted separately. Extra copies of a commissioned print are £5 per A5 copy, £7 per A4 copy and £10 per A3 copy. Larger sizes may be available on request, so please contact me to discuss.

• Paying for a commission. A 50% deposit is due when you book. The remaining 50% is due on completion, [before your final artwork is sent].
• How you pay. Payments are taken securely by [payment provider].
• Cancelling a commission. Each commission is made especially for you, so the usual 14 day right to change your mind does not apply. If you cancel before I’ve started drawing, I’ll refund your deposit in full. Once I’ve started, the deposit covers the work already done and can’t be refunded.
• Cancelling a print order. You can cancel a ready-made print within 14 days of receiving it. You then have another 14 days to send it back, and I’ll refund you within 14 days of it arriving. Email me first and I’ll send you the return address. You pay the return postage.
• Damaged or faulty. If something arrives damaged or isn’t right, email me at placeportraits.byleah@gmail.com [within X days] with a photo and I’ll replace it or refund you, and cover any return postage.

Revisions

• [You’ll see a preview of your artwork before it is finalised.]
• Up to two rounds of small changes are included in the price.
• Further rounds of changes are £10 per round.
• [What counts as a small change, for example a colour tweak or a detail I’ve missed.]
• [Bigger changes, such as a different viewpoint or a different building, are quoted separately.]
• [Once you’ve approved the artwork and it has gone to print, it can’t be changed.]

Copyright and usage

• I keep the copyright in every Place Portrait, including commissioned pieces.
• Every commission comes with a high quality digital file. Your artwork is for personal use, so you’re welcome to print the file for yourself, display it and share it online. A mention of @placeportraits.byleah is always appreciated.
• Please don’t resell it, reproduce it for sale, or use it for a business, logo or merchandise without my written permission. [If you’d like to use it commercially, please ask.]
• I love sharing finished artwork on my website and social media. If you’d rather yours stayed private, tick the box on the enquiry form or let me know. If it’s a gift, message me once it has been given and I’ll wait until then to share it.
• The photos you send stay yours. I only use them to create your artwork.

Delivery and returns

• Every commission comes with a high quality digital file, sent by email as [file type].
• Physical prints are available within the UK only. If you’re outside the UK, your commission is digital only.
• Prints come with a backing board and protective sleeve, and are sent by Royal Mail Tracked. You can choose first or second class.
• Prints usually arrive about 1 week after [your artwork is approved or your order is placed].
• Postage is added to the price of your print. An order of A5 or A4 prints costs £3.25 by Royal Mail Tracked 48, or £4.25 by Tracked 24. [A3 postage to confirm.]
• If your print hasn’t arrived [within X days], email me and I’ll look into it.
• Ready-made prints can be returned within the time limits above. Please email me before sending anything back and I’ll give you the return address. Commissions can’t be returned unless they arrive damaged or faulty.

Privacy

• What I collect. Your name, email address, postal address for prints, the photos and details you send, and a record of your order.
• Why. To reply to you, create and deliver your artwork, and keep the records I need for tax.
• Payments. Card details go straight to [payment provider]. I never see or store them.
• Who I share it with. Only the services I need to complete your order, such as [your printer], Royal Mail and [enquiry form provider]. I never sell your details.
• How long I keep it. [Order records for X years. Photos you send are deleted after X.]
• [Marketing emails: I’ll only email you news or offers if you’ve asked me to.]
• Your rights. You can ask to see, correct or delete the information I hold by emailing placeportraits.byleah@gmail.com. If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
